We are excited to be part of a significant Scottish Government project focused on Digital Licencing throughout Scotland and UK, which will become a new SaaS product. As we expand our team, we are seeking a highly experienced Principal Engineer to lead our development team and play a crucial role in building and shaping the role within the team, based in our Edinburgh or Dundee office.

This is an extraordinary opportunity to be involved in a cutting-edge Government-backed tech product, with the potential to become a partner/founder in the business.

 

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Lead the development team and help build the role of Principal Engineer within the project team. 
  • Ensure seamless collaboration with other project team members to achieve project objectives.
  • Play a key role in building the team and be part of the interview process to select the right candidates.
  • Utilise your full-stack background and extensive experience to lead the development team.
  • Manage and lead the team, fostering a collaborative and high-performing culture.
  • Implement and lead Scrum and Agile methodologies within the team to ensure efficient project delivery.
  • Utilise your extensive experience with the same tech stack as the rest of the team, bringing your expertise to the table.
  • Lead the product development process, making final decisions within the team and driving innovation.

 

Requirements:

  • Minimum 7 years’ industry experience with demonstrated leadership capabilities.
  • Extensive full-stack background covering both front-end and back-end technologies.
  • Proficiency in Scrum and Agile methodologies, adept at leading teams effectively.
  • Strong team and people management skills, capable of cultivating a high-performing team environment.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication abilities.
  • Familiarity with the project’s tech stack, including Microsoft Azure cloud platforms and relevant technologies.
  • Preferably experienced with Microsoft Azure cloud services; however, previous AWS experience is advantageous.
  • Knowledgeable in DevOps practices, software development cycles, and Docker.
  • Proficient in containerisation technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Advanced programming skills in React, React Native, Flutter, Express JS, Node JS, Python, and experience with databases like Microsoft SQL Server or PostgreSQL.

There may be an opportunity to make the role permanent at the end of the 12-month contract. 

 

What You Will Be Doing: 

  • Conducting comprehensive research and analysis to support project objectives.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to gather requirements and understand project needs.
  • Utilising analytical tools and methodologies to extract insights from data.
  • Producing high-quality reports, presentations, and documentation.
  • Providing strategic recommendations based on research findings.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Research Analyst or similar role.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with excellent attention to detail.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.

Solutions Architect (Permanent)

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Lead the design and development of innovative solutions aligned with project objectives/milestones/deliverables.
  • Provide architectural guidance and technical leadership to project teams.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Develop and maintain architectural documentation, ensuring alignment with industry standards and best practices.
  • Manage a team of professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performing culture.
  • Oversee the implementation of solutions, ensuring they meet quality standards and adhere to project timelines.
  • Proactively identify risks and issues and implement mitigation strategies as needed.

 

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Solutions Architect, with a strong focus on Microsoft Azure cloud services.
  • Proficient in Azure services such as Virtual Machines, App Services, Azure Functions, Azure SQL, Cosmos DB, Storage, Networking, and Azure Active Directory.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like ARM templates, Terraform, or Azure PowerShell.
  • Knowledge of cloud security best practices, compliance standards (e.g. GDPR, PCI-DSS), and Azure security services.
  • Strong understanding of software development lifecycles, DevOps practices, and containerisation technologies (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Azure Solutions Architect Expert certification or other relevant Azure certifications are highly desirable.

    Which tools and technologies do you work with?

    While each role will have slightly different requirements (and we’ll always make sure these are outlined in the job posting), our whole team will use Slack, Notion, Basecamp, and Outlook on a daily basis, alongside job-specific tools such as Jira, HubSpot, Freshdesk, Canva, Figma, and more. As we develop software across Android, iOS, Windows, and Mac there are many tools and technologies to choose from.

    What are the usual working hours at Zudu?

    Our offices are open from 9am to 5:30pm, Monday to Friday, and these are the standard hours for all full-time roles (both remote and office-based). Please contact our team for more information about flexible hours.
